It’s an incredible weekend to be a craft beer lover in NYC. Besides a lineup of events that’s so stacked it’s almost hard to believe, we have enough rare bottle and can sales to satisfy even the most devoted whale hunter. Here’s a look at what’s being released in glass and aluminum in NYC this weekend:
Saturday, October 24, 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm @ Finback. Details »
Finback is releasing cans of Starchild on Saturday. Starchild is a sour ale brewed with grapefruit peel. At 4.6% ABV and just 3 IBUs, Starchild is a refreshingly tart beer. From Finback:
To all you funky citizens of the universe, we introduce to you Starchild. Cruising through intergalactic space with your pucker face. Sour ale brewed with grapefruit peel.
Saturday, October 24, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm @ Gun Hill. Details »
Gun Hill’s Void of Light won a gold medal last year at GABF in the Foreign-Style Stout category. So what do you get when you take an outstanding stout and put it in barrels? Something special. Gun Hill is releasing a limited quantity of Barrel Aged Void of Light on Saturday. $15 per bottle, and two bottles per person. This is one you don’t want to miss if you can help it.
Gun Hill has this to day about non-barrel aged Void of Light:
All light vanishes here. The pitch-black color and cocoa-espresso aroma and flavor are derived from roasted barley while the complexity is enhanced by the strength of this foreign-style stout.
Saturday, October 24, October 24, 10:00 am – 10:00 pm @ Other Half. Details »
Other Half is releasing two cans on Saturday. First up is All Green Everything, the triple IPA we know and love so well. The accompanying can is El Dorado, a single hop IPA. The cans go on sale at 10:00 am, and will be available until they run out. Pro tip: Gaddy Lane will be on site slinging breakfast sandwiches. IPAs and breakfast sandwiches are a match made in heaven. Get there early, and go hungry.
Saturday, October 24, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm @ Union Square Greenmarket. Details »
Hudson Valley Plan Bee Farm Brewery will be making a rare NYC appearance at the Union Square Greenmarket on Saturday. They’ll be selling bottles and offering samples of their beer. Word has it they’ll be partnering up with a restaurant that will serving food pairings with the samples. If you haven’t tried Plan Bee’s beer yet, this is a great opportunity. There’s a lot of buzz around this small upstate brewery as they are in the midst of moving to a larger farm and brewing facility. (See what I did there? Buzz? I’m so sorry.)
