Destination Unknown is the brain child of Chris Candiano and Brad Finn. After a long time friendship the two began home brewing in the summer of 2010. A fun hobby soon became and obsession. Brewing went from monthly, to weekly, to bi-weekly. Five gallon extract brewing soon became 10 gallon all grain brewing. Recipes were fine tuned, and the beer soon became a hit around their social circle. A short time later they were making kegs for their friends parties and the idea of becoming legit became a possibility!
They soon learned that opening a brewery was a project that would not happen over night. After a two year search, looking for the right location, they ended up in Bay Shore. They moved into the building in November of 2014 and began the long process of receiving the NYS license. They chose the “Farm Brewery License” to help grow NY’s growing economy. More than 20% of their recipes are sourced in NY and that number is growing as they make more contacts.
They currently brew on a 1 BBL (31 gallon) scale which allows them to produce a wide variety of styles and flavors. This will keep an ever changing line up on tap in the tasting room. They hope to have seasonal favorites you can expect every year with a few other unknowns!
Chris and Brad continue to run the daily operations at Destination Unknown. They look forward to meeting more of the community as the brewery grows. Stop down to the tasting room to see whats on tap!
