This Halloween, something is brewing at Eataly…
Join us for Casks & Masks on Saturday, October 31, at La Birreria! From noon to 10 p.m., our year-round rooftop will be haunted by 20 breweries, 50-plus craft beers, and paired bites (think: Halloween meets Oktoberfest).
No need to register for Casks & Masks: entry is free (and limited to revelers aged 21 and over), and $4 beer and food tickets will be available at the door (editor’s tip: snag 10 tickets for $35!).
Casks & Masks will kick off with a free beer and ice cream tasting from 12-1 p.m. Enjoy complimentary tastes of rare craft beers paired with five exclusive beer ice creams, created by Nicholas Morgenstern of Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Creams in collaboration with Eataly New York Executive Chef Fitz Tallon. Flavors will include Eataly Oran’Gina, Dogfish Head Pumpkin Caramel Ice Cream, Brewfist Chocolate Spagetti Western Stout, and more. (Get a taste for Morgenstern’s sweet style in the ice cream maven’s interview on Eataly Magazine!) Chef Morgenstern and an Eataly brewer will guide the tasting.
Then, take a trip around our rooftop to taste more than 50 craft beers poured by representatives from 20 local and Italian breweries, including Dogfish Head from Delaware, Birra del Borgo from Italy, and Other Half from Brooklyn (view the full list here!). Next, visit our food counter, where our top chefs will be making a selection of seasonal bites, from arancini with butternut squash and black truffle butter to mushroom panini, in addition to the beer ice creams by Nicholas Morgenstern, all available for purchase with the $4 tickets.
The all-day beer celebration will be complete with a costume contest, so dress festively – if you dare! Our in-store photographer will be snapping photos and gathering information, which will be added to a live slide show throughout the day. At 8 p.m., we will announce the three finalists, selected by a team of Eataly judges. Then, fellow Casks & Masks guests will determine the placing based on applause. The first-place winner will receive a $100 Eataly gift card (valid at our market, restaurants, and cooking school), second a Birreria brew kit, and third a $25 Eataly gift card. (Participants do not need to be present at 8 p.m. to win; we will email you with the good news if you have evening plans!)
Before the day is over, you will also have the chance to enter to win a brand-new glassware set from Italian designer Bormioli Rocco, including beer glasses and festively-colored bottles and jars.
Finally, if we wake up on Saturday to stormy weather, don’t worry: Casks & Masks will be hopping come rain or shine, thanks to Birreria’s retractable roof and cozy space heaters.
In other words: come to Eataly on Halloween for grown-up trick-or-treating.
