Bitter & Esters
700 Washington Ave., Brooklyn, NY11238
Cost: $25
Mike Siegel, a Goose Island brewer whose passion for great beer started in his early 20s and led to many years of homebrewing will be joining us at Bitter & Esters for a talk on the ins and outs of Goose Island’s extensive barrel aging program. Mike started at Goose Island in 2011 as a brewer and cellarman, and in 2013 took on the role of Brewing Innovation Manager. He now oversees all new beer development and helps facilitate the creative output of the numerous talented brewers at Goose Island.
The lecture will be followed up by a Q&A and a tasting. We’ll be working our way through some of Goose island’s barrel aged beers including Bourbon County Barleywine, Sofie, Halia, and Lolita. We’re going to be including three local barrel aged beers as well. There are two sessions for this event, 1pm & 4pm. There are only 25 seats per session and this will be a great opportunity to try some rare beers and learn more about barrel aging from the pros.
