Since 2005 Captain Lawrence has been brewing fantastic beers under the guidance of brewmaster Scott Vaccaro: from everyday classics like their Kolsch, to rare offerings like Hudson Valley Harvest brewed in cooperation with Stone Barns. They’re only 11 years old, but they’ve been a major influence on every New York brewery that has emerged in the last 10 years.

Other Half is only 2 years old, but they’ve quickly become critical and popular darlings with their range of fresh hoppy beers, unlikely collaborations, and now they’ve been branching into foudre fermented and brettanomyces fermented beers. Sam Richardson and Matt Monahan have big plans for the brewery, with an expansion of their Gowanus space forthcoming.
