Suds in Solidarity

May 17, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Sixth Street Community Center

  638 East 6th St., New York, NY10009

Cost: $25

In February, many of the area homebrew clubs banded together under the moniker “Brewnity” and produced an event at The Bell House in Brooklyn which raised more than $5,000 for local charity City Harvest all while enjoying great beer and celebrating the New York City homebrewing community. In response to the tragic gas explosion on March 26 in the East Village of Manhattan, many of the local homebrewing clubs felt the urge to respond to the devastation that took place in an area that has deep roots in the craft beer and homebrewing communities and have come together again to raise funds for those affected by the tragedy.
Brewnity will present SUDS IN SOLIDARITY; A Homebrew Benefit for the East Village on May 17, 2015. The event will be held from 1pm-4pm at the Sixth Street Community Center located at 638 E 6th Street between Aves B & C. All proceeds from ticket sales and raffles will be donated to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City; East Village Building Collapse fund. Tickets, now on sale, are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Advanced tickets can be purchased at www.sudsinsolidarity.brownpapertickets.com

Donations are also being collected to purchase gift certificates from local area bars and restaurants in the affected area including Jimmy’s No. 43, Standings, and Burp Castle which have close ties to the homebrew and craft beer communities. These gift certificate purchases will help these bars and restaurants, closed for weeks as a result of the collapse, to recover some lost income as well as help pay the staff whose livelihoods were also affected.
