Brooklyn’s Interboro Spirits and Ales Opening Soon

Posted on August 10, 2016 by NYCBG

Brooklyn can boast about yet another brewery opening its doors in the borough. Williamsburg’s Interboro Spirits and Ales will begin delivering beer to local accounts this week, with a tasting room opening in the near future.

Interboro Spirits and Ales will be the first brewery and distillery combo in the city. Head brewer and distiller Jesse Ferguson (formerly of Carton Brewing and Other Half Brewing Co.) hopes to break down the barriers between beer and spirits, noting that:

“A lot of people aren’t aware that [beer and spirits] essentially start at the same point and then veer off in different paths. We can show that firsthand with the beers and distillates we make from the same mash.”

Although the brewery/distillery and tasting room are not open to the public yet, Interboro Spirits and Ales will release two beers in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens this week. They are:

  • Bushburg, 5.5%: Hoppy American pilsner brewed with corn, German lager yeast and noble hop varieties.
  • La Dee Da Dee, 4.7%: Hoppy session India Pale Ale brewed with wheat and Vienna malt, American ale yeast and Amarillo and Equinox hops.

Interboro Spirits and Ales obtained a lease for their brewing and distilling facility last November. Jesse Ferguson told Edible Brooklyn that the space is close to being finished, and they are hoping to be open to the public sometime in September.
