4 New Breweries Opening in NYC

Posted on September 9, 2016 by NYCBG

It’s no news that the NYC craft beer scene is absolutely blowing up right now, but in case you haven’t heard: NYC beer is so hot right now!!!

With unbelievable beers being released regularly on tap and in cans throughout the city, it’s easy to get caught up following the suds and losing sight of new breweries opening up in the future.

We have intel on four new breweries slated to open in the city at some point in the future (although admittedly, our “intel” for one could just be a rumor… but what a sweet dream it is).

Take a look at what’s on the horizon for the NYC craft beer world, and get ready to drink a hell of a lot more beer in the coming months.

Evil Twin Brewing

Location: Ridgewood, Queens
Anticipated Opening: Unknown

Word of Evil Twin Brewing Company’s forthcoming brick and mortar first came from a seemingly unlikely source: the Twitter account for Queens Beer Week. There were no other references to the development to be found anywhere else online, but the craft beer community remained curious. Evil Twin is well known for being a gypsy brewer, after all. Could they really be putting down roots?

Yes, they certainly can. The rumors were confirmed in an Instagram post from Evil Twin, but little more information is available. We know that the tasting room will be off Halsey Street L train stop in Ridgewood, Queens. Beyond that, we wait in anticipation of the opening…

Things are moving forward….

Fifth Hammer Brewing

Location: Long Island City, Queens
Anticipated Opening: Unknown

Fifth Hammer Brewing’s opening has been much anticipated and well documented.

NYC beer scene staple Chris Cuzme is at the helm of Fifth Hammer along with David Scharfstein. The brewery plans to experiment with many different styles of beer, from hoppy IPAs, to funky farmhouse ales, to sour beers.

Fifth Hammer Brewing Co. will be the fifth brewery with a tasting room to open in the Long Island City neighborhood, and will make for an excellent addition to the LIC brewery crawl.

Five Boroughs Brewing Co.

Location: Sunset Park, Brooklyn
Anticipated Opening: Unknown

We haven’t been able to learn much about Five Boroughs Brewing Co. besides what we found on a brief online statement about the business:

Five Boroughs Brewing Co. plans to produce delicious craft beers that embody the dynamic spirit of New York City. We aim to create a culture and family that all New Yorkers can be a part of and a beer they can truly call their own.

Unfortunately, it looks like their Facebook page and website have gone dark. We hope to seem them back online, with plans to open in the near future.

Grimm Artisanal Ales

Location: East Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Anticipated Opening: Unknown

Rumors have been swirling about Grimm looking to settle down and open brick and mortar brewery and tasting room. Although there has been no official statement from Grimm, sources close to them have stated they are closing in on a spot in the East Williamsburg neighborhood.

To be clear, this is unconfirmed, and could be a wild rumor, but if true, it would be a huge development for the Brooklyn beer scene (and totally awesome, in our own humble opinions).
