Long Island City craft beer staple Alewife announced via Twitter plans to start brewing their own beer.
The tweet includes a picture of a small-scale, three-tiered pilot system. The caption reads “New Brewery Alert!!! Pilot system at @AlewifeNYC Let the games begin!! #breweryinplanning #nybeer #BeerlyLegalBars”
There are no further details available at the moment, but based on the tweet, it is clear that Alewife will be brewing in the near future. There is no indication of future plans or the intended brewing capacity.
Alewife is a leading craft beer bar in southern Queens, owned by the Beerly Legal Group (along with The Jeffrey and Fools Gold). Alewife will be joining a strong craft brewery scene in Long Island City. Once operational, they will be the fifth operating craft brewery in the neighborhood, alongside Transmitter Brewing, Rockaway Brewing Company, Big Alice Brewing, and newcomers LIC Beer Project.
