Two new beers were announced by Coney Island Brewing Company this morning. The beers seem to be a move to further establish the new branding unveiled in the second half of 2013.
Overpass IPA, in Coney Island’s words:
Presenting our tribute to those artists, musicians and renaissance souls that staked claim and built community Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass (D.U.M.B.O).
Overpass is a deep golden, richly aromatic IPA with a crisp bitterness and big, juicy citrus and hop aromas.
Malts: 2 Row Brewer’s Malt, Caramunich, Carapils
Hops: Warrior, Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Nelson Sauvin
1609 Amber Ale:
1609 isn’t a year. It’s a landmark in time. When explorers first set foot on the massive dune along the Atlantic, they set in motion a chain of events that would one day give us The Playground of the World. And to that, we drink.
1609 is a bold, deep amber ale with a full malt, slightly nutty character and strong citrus hop nose that celebrates the discovery of Coney Island.
Malt: 2 Row, Carapils, Melanoidin, Caramel Munich
Hops: Cascade, Amarillo, Tettnang, Northern Brewer
