Brewery Ommegang to Release Nirvana IPA in a SoHo Pop-Up Growler Store

Brewery Ommegang will be releasing their first-ever American IPA in a pop-up growler shop located SoHo next week. Nirvana IPA will have “West Coast assertiveness and East Coast restraint: fruity, juicy and hoppy with balance and mild bitterness,” clocking in at 6.5% ABV and 60 IBUs.

Wait… An Ommegang IPA? A growler pop-up shop? What???

One thing at a time:

The Cooperstown brewery has focused on Belgian beer styles since opening in 1997, so their decision to release an American IPA is not only impressive, but indicative of trends in the craft beer market.

“The Growler Store” is where you can pick up a limited edition growler. Once you have your growler, you can then take it to one of eight retailers across the city to have it filled with Nirvana IPA before the official launch date of April 20. Ommegang is also hosting a two private tasting events for the first 300 people who purchase a growler online.

The Growler Store will be set up at 40 Wooster Street in SoHo all next week (April 13 – April 19). The open hours are:

• Tuesday, 4/14: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
• Wednesday, 4/15: 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
• Thursday, 4/16: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

• Sunday, 4/19: 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
