Tørst Is a Semifinalist in the 2015 James Beard Awards

Tørst could be looking at a James Beard Award this year. The Greenpoint craft beer bar has been included in the list of semifinalists in the Outstanding Bar Program category.

A glance at the semifinalists (full list here) makes it clear that craft beer is being embraced by the culinary world. This year there are 5 craft beer luminaries nominated in the Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional category, including:

• Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head
• Jim Koch of The Boston Beer Company
• Rob Tod of Allagash Brewing Company
• Mike, Nick, and Simon Floyd of Three Floyds Brewing
• Tom Peters of Monk’s Café

Let’s not forget that Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery won a James Beard Award in 2014 in the Excellent Wine, Beer or Spirits Professional category. This was the first time a beer professional has ever received a James Beard Award.

Finalists for the 2015 James Beard Awards will be announced on March 24th. In the meantime, we’ll have our fingers crossed for our friends at Tørst.
